Violinist


Boston-based violinist Susannah Foster enjoys a diverse performing career on modern and historical instruments. She performs with ensembles including the Handel + Haydn Society, Boston Baroque, Emmanuel Music, Les Bostonades, Grand Harmonie, Arcadia Players, Ars Musica Chicago, Phoenix Orchestra, Newton Baroque, and the Henry Purcell Society of Boston, and has appeared throughout North America, Europe, and Africa under the baton of artists such as Riccardo Muti, Kurt Masur, Jaap Van Sweden, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Michael Tilson Thomas, Christoph Eschenbach, Giovanni Antonini, Oliver Knussen, and John Williams. She has performed with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in London, worked extensively with the New World Symphony in Miami, and served as concertmaster of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Tanglewood Music Center, Music Academy of the West, and Northwestern University Symphony Orchestras. Susannah studied chamber music with Pamela and Claude Frank, as well as members of the Guarneri, Takacs, Juilliard, Vermeer, and Cleveland String Quartets. A passionate educator, Susannah serves as violin and viola faculty at the Cambridge Music Consortium and the Dana Hall School of Music, and as chamber music faculty at the German International School of Boston. Previous faculty positions include the Northwestern University Music Academy and the People's Music School in Chicago. She holds a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University.
